STARDUST Glitter Stix - silver

GOLD DUST Glitter Stix - gold

Actually Biodegradable and Genuinely Safe

The Bioglitter™ we use is a cellulose-based glitter that decomposes under natural conditions within four weeks and is the only glitter that complies with the new European Union legislation against microplastics.

All other 'eco glitters' - not to mention conventional glitter - still contain microplastics that are toxic to the earth and wildlife. These bio-charlatans only decompose under industrial composting conditions—requiring the impossible collection of every speck of glitter, plus transportation to a specialized facility for processing, to biodegrade. Nonsense.

Unlike these misleading faux-biodegradables, we took great care in choosing a truly plastic-free glitter. It's made mostly of eucalyptus cellulose and will actually biodegrade naturally, no matter where it lands. Truly good for your skin

Bioglitter™ is made without ANY plastics—so no endocrine disruptive and carcinogenic chemicals.

Wild Rose STARDUST and GOLD DUST Glitter Stix suspend this Bioglitter™ in a rich base of emollient and nourishing sunflower oil and sunflower wax, with a touch of organic cassava and kaolin clay. The cassava aids in the suspension, while the kaolin clay provides skin tonifying properties. Our long-wear formula gently and naturally adheres the Bioglitter™ while hydrating and protecting your skin.

Full Ingredient Breakdown

Glitter Stix are the first products in the Wild Rose line that are not 100% natural - the Bioglitter™ used in the formulas contains about 1-2% synthetic, skin-safe pigments. The use of synthetic pigments is common in makeup formulation as natural sources can contain high levels of heavy metals. However, because this new product is a deviation from our standard formulas, we wanted to pick apart each ingredient found in Glitter Stix.

Helianthus annuus (sunflower) oil* and wax: This highly absorbent emollient softens skin and gently attaches Bioglitter™ to your skin.

Manihot esculenta (cassava) root: One of our favorite starchy roots, cassava helps with Bioglitter™ suspension and reduces any oily feel from the sunflower oil and wax.

Kaolin clay: A natural cosmetic clay used in combination with cassava for suspension and absorption.

Bioglitter™ ingredients:

Rayon (eucalyptus cellulose): This comprises the bulk of the Bioglitter™ and replaces the plastic used in conventional glitter products. Made of fibers of eucalyptus trees, one of the most widely available and fastest growing trees on the planet. The eucalyptus used is sourced from responsibly managed and certified plantations operating to PEFC™ (www.pefc.org standards). (72% of Bioglitter™)

Glycerin (plant derived): A common skincare ingredient added for texture. (11% of Bioglitter™)

Aqua: Plain old water! (6% of Bioglitter™)

Urea: A naturally occurring skin conditioner. (3% of Bioglitter™)

Shellac: Shellac is a resinous secretion of the insect Laccifer (Tachardia) lacca. Considered a vegetarian animal product, like beeswax. (4% of Bioglitter™)

Mica (naturally sourced only from the U.S. in order to guarantee no child labor): Mica is a type of highly brittle silicate mineral typically used as a colorant. (2-2.5% of Bioglitter™)

Synthetic fluorphlogopite: A synthetic mineral used as a bulking agent. (1-3% of Bioglitter™)

Titanium dioxide: A naturally occurring inorganic compound used as a colorant. (<1% of Bioglitter™)

CI 77489 (iron oxide): An inorganic pigment used as a colorant. (1-2% of Bioglitter™)

CI 77510 (ferric ammonium ferrocyanide): An iron-based inorganic salt used as a colorant. (<1% of Bioglitter™)

Tin oxide: An inorganic oxide that is naturally found in mineral form. (<1% of Bioglitter™)
