The Pervasiveness of Plastics
As many reading this know, microplastic and nanoplastic fragments are everywhere throughout our bodies, from the tissues in our brains to our reproductive organs. They have been documented in over 1,300 species, and pervade every ecosystem on earth. A truly grotesque estimated 10 to 40 million metric tons of these particles are released into the environment every year and represent one aspect of the ecocidal policies the masters of industrial capital seem hell-bent on continuing to unleash on our world.

Plastics as Pathology
Within our bodies, there is already ample—and growing—scientific evidence of associations between the micro and nanoplastics in our bodies and many disease processes. Immune system impairment, reproductive abnormalities, inflammatory changes, cellular damage, as well as links to metabolic dysfunction, cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke, and lung and colon cancers, are just a few examples in the research documenting that higher exposure to microplastics correlate with increased disease incidence and poorer health outcomes.

Biodegradable lip balm containers work great and are plastic free.

At Wild Rose we are committed to finding solutions for packaging materials for products without the use of plastics.

So far, Wild Rose has eliminated all use of plastics, save the caps used on a few of our glass containers and the sprayer and caps on our glass spray bottles. Please tell us if you know of a distributor for cornstarch based medicine bottle caps and sprayers, or other solutions!
A Different Way
Beyond supporting local farms and organic and biodynamic agriculture, growing much of the medicine we make ourselves, and avoiding all synthetic chemicals in our products, Wild Rose also limits the worsening ecological and climate catastrophe through avoiding plastics use. Some of the ways we make this actionable include using only biodegradable lip balm and deodorant tubes, using glass rather than plastic jars, and employing recycled materials and cornstarch based packing peanuts for shipping. While seemingly small, all are examples of how we elevate our ethics above our bottom-line, and go way out of our way to increase your health and safety, as well as the solvency of continuing life on our planet.
